Hi to all.

I have a problem with this HP notebook.
- A customer has spilled a liquid on it and it wouldn't turn on. I found a problem with U9426 chip (TPS51123) and have successfully exchanged the chip and repaired that part of a problem.



- Now the laptop is starting but I have another problem I can't solve. When I turn it on, it displays HP image and it wont go any further, it freezes.



When I enter BIOS, I can do whatever I like in BIOS, change settings, etc... But when I try to exit BIOS to save changes or to select boot devices, it freezes. The notebook won't boot past BIOS screen.

I have exchanged SMSC chip, and a couple of Intel CPU's, tried another main BIOS, but nothing helps. It is always the same.

What do you recommend to do next?

Most likely a problem with the south bridge . Or with any of its interface (LAN, Audio ...). And can be a problem with the BIOS firmware.

I have already exchanged the BIOS and SMSC chip with another board I have laying around here. I have checked all the voltages, everything seems fine.

I can enter BIOS when laptop turns on, and when I stay in BIOS, the laptop works. I can stay in BIOS setup for how much as I want and the laptop does not freezes at all, but when I try to save settings or boot past BIOS screen, the laptop will freeze.

The only thing left to change is Intel HM65 chipset.

A scheme on the motherboard there is some flash chip should stand ? It may well be that different firms chips differ in speed reading and writing , as a result of the laptop can not work at all , although the chip and firmware will be working in it the same .

It seems that there is a password somewhere in BIOS and I cannot find in which chip is the password. Can you help me to identify the chip and erase password? Thank you!

I think the problem is the hard drive, try to pull it out and turn on the laptop.

No it's not hard drive, I am powering the laptop on the bench, without any peripheral device, no hard drive, no DVD drive, no keyboard... only the board, the screen and the USB keyboard
