Hi,
I have an issue with Toshiba A200. It works perfectly with adapter but without battery connected.
When battery is plugged in with adapter, no more lights (power and charging led are off) and pushing the button doesn't power laptop.
Battery is now empty but was previously tested on an other Toshiba, as wall as adapter and are all ok.

Main mosfet on power and charging sections are tested ok with ohmmeter.
Noticed that 1st pin of battery connector has 19V,[b] when only adapter is plugged, I guess it must be few volts, in this case.

Any clue, please advice !

Seems PQ7 is shorted. Or PQ13 is dead. If not - replace EC then.

Removed PQ7 (which tested ok) but 18.6V remained present at pin1 of battery connector, though battery is unplugged[/b].

P[b]Q11 (tested ok but removed and changed) and voltages measured at pins are (when battery unplugged ):
Source : 21.6V
Gate : 18.6V
Drain : 18.6V ??? which confirms that PQ11 is "on" while it should be in an "off" state, when battery removed. It's an "enigma" !!!

Any new clue !

So what about MB3887 ? Have you changed it? PD14, PD10 ?

Actually it`s normal cos the drain is hung.
Ground it by some high ohm resistor for fun.

The drain of PQ11 is linked through PD10 to ground. PD10 is tested ok.
Actually on mobo, there's no PD14 but only PD10.

The charging section of the mobo ISKAE LA-3661P Rev : 2-0 is slightly different from the schematic I have which is Rev 0.1.

N.B. MB3887 will be replaced as last solution.

By cathode ?? You are asking why there is 19 volts on pin 1.
Set a high ohm resistor to make sure.
No, I don`t have it.

What the problem to replace EC and MB3887?
Is there any need to waste your time beating about the bush?
The issue is obvious - EC shuts down the laptop cos is dead itself or some problem with charger - the PWM or components around.
Replacing two main minefields is a saving your precious time, isn`t it?

Further to my post, and as to isolate the problem, I desoldered one leg of PR63 and found 18.6V on batt+ pin (-INC1 of charging IC), when battery unplugged!

Downloaded datasheet of MB38A125 and concluded that VCC pin and -INC1 are likely to be partially shorted (both are input of Low Input Voltage Detection Bloc [UV Comp]).

After replacing MB39A125 with a recovered one, both power and battery leds light, when battery unplugged. But as soon as battery is connected, battery led goes off but power led remains, a light improvement.
As new Ic is unfortunately not available on our market, Lap was returned to the customer.

Why don`t you sell them by yourself as many masters on our board?
