How to Modify and Flash a Lenovo Bios
We are going to use a real and true Lenovo Bios file to modify and test.
1. Download one of the 2 Lenovo bios files from Lenovo's website from links below.
-Bios Download Link (32 Bit): http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub...s/7uuj36us.exe
OR
-Bios Download Link (64 Bit): http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub...s/7uuj36u6.exe
2. Unrar the file.
3. After unraring the file, find the 2 folders 7UET79WW and 7VET80WW. In these 2 folders contain the bios files.
4. The 2 bios files in 7VET79WW FOLDER are $01B8200.FL1 and $01B8200.FL2.
5. The 2 bios files in 7VET80WW FOLDER are $01B8100.FL1 and $01B8100.FL2.
6. Here is the part which must be remembered. In A Lenovo bios that we want to modify, we are only concerned with this number: 200
7. Therefore, we find this number in $01B8200.FL1 and $01B8200.FL2 located in 7VET79WW folder and not in the 7VET80WW FOLDER.
8. Of the two bios files with the number 200 in them, we only are concerned with the .FL1 bios and ignore .FL2 bios file.
9. Therefore, we are only going to modify the $01B8200.FL1 bios file and ignore $01B8200.FL2 bios file.
10. When you load $01B8200.FL1 bios file into the Phoenix Mod Tool, it will begin to parse the file.
11. After parsing $01B8200.FL1 bios file, a window will appear showing what SLIC is presently in the bios file and that slic is lenovotp-7u.
12. Therefore, we need to use SLIC lenovotp-7u 2.1 to modify it - the point here is to choose the exact slic v2.1 that matches the slic 2.0 that is in the bios in which we are going to modify.
13. After loading $01B8200.FL1 bios file into Phoenix Mod Tool, choose LENOVO from Manufacturer drop down menu. THIS IS IMPORTANT AND MUST NOT BE IGNORED.
14. Next choose SLIC lenovotp-7u 2.1 from the folder of SLICS21 and then load your RW Everything Report and click GO.
15. After Phoenix Mod Tool finishes modifying the bios, open up the folder and you will find 2 new files that were made during modification of the bios.
16. One file that was made is $01B8100.ROM and the second one is $01B8100_SLIC.ROM.
17. Take both of these two files, $01B8100.ROM and $01B8100_SLIC.ROM, and do not rename but place in the folder of where WINPHLASH is located.
18. Now, we need to modify some settings in Winphlash.
19. Find PHLASH.INI file and open with Notepad.
20. When PHLASH.INI opens in Notepad, find [UI]. Click underneath [UI] and add this: Advanced=1 and hideall=0 if it does not exist or if it exist with different values other than 1 and 0, then change those values to correct ones.
21. Next, in PHLASH.INI find BackupFile= and make sure the backup file is $01B8200_SLIC.BAK. Therefore, it will read in PHLASH.INI as BackupFile=$01B8200_SLIC.BAK.
22. Next, in PHLASH.INI find ImageFile= and make sure image file is $01B8200_SLIC.ROM. THerefore it will read in PHLASH.INI as ImageFile=$01B8200_SLIC.ROM
23. Now save PHLASH.INI changes and close out.
24. Now you are ready to flash your bios.
25. Open WINPHLASH - When Winphlash Opens, When winphlash opens, find SPECIFY NEW BIOS FILE and navigate to $01B8200_SLIC.ROM located in 7UET79WW FOLDER.
26. Don't worry about backup bios file - Next click ADVANCED BUTTON.
27. When Advanced Window opens and At flags, tick verify block after programming and disable Axx swapping automatic detection.
28. At DMI chose update the bios and not the DMI.
29. Press OK and then flash the bios and follow on-screen instructions.
30. Congratulations, you have just modified and successfully flashed your lenovo bios.
